Recruiting A-Players with a Unique Culture

Incite is DIFFERENT. They are attracting their next A-Player by sharing their unique culture.

When it comes to attracting A-Players to your team, featuring your company culture is key to attracting the right person. If you're a great place to work, and your team appreciates that, it's important to find out what they appreciate about working for you.

John Briggs and his team at Incite are The Anti-Accounting firm. Their culture is unique. Their working conditions are unique (ahem… they do not work more than 40 hours per week EVEN during tax season!). The opportunity to work at Incite is a tremendous opportunity… for the right accountant.

When we surveyed some of John's team members to get their perspective on the culture, some powerful comments were made in reference to John's leadership, how they experience their team, and the intangible perks of being an Incite team member.  We discovered they had great stories to tell about their experience working with John.

Their stories are featured in this video on Incite's Careers Page. Watch the video to get ideas for how you might feature your culture to attract your next A-Player.

5 Great Place to Work Tips for Featuring Your Culture to Attract Your Next A-Player

Tip  #1: It's important to know your team members' perspectives on what it's like to be part of your team.

It's not enough to guess what your team members have to say about working with you. You need to know. Capturing what they say, in their own language, is powerful for attracting more A-Players to your team.

To discover this, we surveyed John's team and the stories began unfolding from there.

John and his team used video to capture the essence of their team and their daily experience at Incite. This gives potential applicants a sneak peak into their culture.

From the applicant's perspective, it's very different than simply reading a job description. The video brings words to life.

Tip #2: Like attracts like.

There is no better way to attract more great members to your team than by featuring your current team members on video, sharing their stories of working with you.

Tip #3: Filter applicants quickly.

This video is also a tool to weed out the wrong applicants quickly. An accountant seeking a traditional accounting firm will not even bother to apply. This saves time for everyone involved.

Tip #4: Share your vision

John's team members repeatedly referenced John's leadership and his vision as something they really appreciate. John got on video to share his vision. Again, video brings words to life. It's easy for an applicant to catch the vision as they listen to John on video.

Tip #5: Boost the likelihood of the right applicant finding you by adding an Employee Referral Incentive Program into your recruiting.

Now that John and his team have clearly identified the characteristics of the right team member and conveyed their culture so powerfully on their Careers Page, they are in a great position to utilize the power of networking to attract their next team member.

A-Players hang together. A-Players know other A-Players. With social media, all of us are just a handful of introductions away from being introduced to potential team members.

Check out the Employee Referral Incentive Program that John's team is offering.

BONUS TIP: Did you catch all the fun team-building activities John's team engages in? Go back and watch the video to get ideas for what you might do with your team.  Yes, they work out TOGETHER. The psychological benefits of that alone are immense, not to mention they are all physically healthier because they work out.
